Sarah, our server was fantastic. They were busy busy on a recent Friday and she was efficient and attentive. Their food is a cut above. There are a ton of restaurants that serve "good" food, but the refinement of the preparation and quality of the ingredients are notable here. They have a smallish well-crafted menu. Being a French bistro, we love that their house wines are French, and they serve Cremant, Amagnac, etc. There are other good French restaurants in KC, but we find Wesport Cafe's food on point and the environment/vibe is not unlike a cafe in Paris.

John was the best server I've ever had by far. Rarely can I say I'm genuinely really impressed by a professional's ability to not only provide a fantastic experience but also a great atmosphere. You can tell he enjoys the job and wants to be there. Very laid back and playful, and his demeanor really added to our experience. He talks to his customers like they are friends, instead of a means to an end. Not to mention, he had an incredible knowledge of the menu that allowed us to chose the best options possible. And the fact that he was honest and his recommendations were absolutely delicious made us want to trust his judgement and try things we otherwise wouldn't have, and I'm so incredibly thankful for that. The attention to detail and quick pace he worked at had me forgetting about anything else but my partner and the incredible food, which is exactly what I wanted tonight. As for the food itself - I was impressed with the amount of flavor packed into every piece of our dinner. We are a huge fan of risotto, and after talking with John we decided to try a side of the scallop risotto. It was very thick and creamy, the type of texture you expect almost with melted cheese. The balance between the spices and other add-ons make it very one of a kind. As for the steak, I would highly recommend going in on Tuesday! They have a sale that gives you more than your bang for your buck and is definitely worth the price. I will say though, it was mentioned to us that we might enjoy a different sauce with an upcharge of 7~ dollars, and so we both tried one of each. And let me tell you, I'm so jealous of my partner who got it. The steak is wonderful, but something about that sauce really brings it all together, and I'll definitely not make the mistake of leaving that out next time. To finish it off, we had some ice cream that was topped off with a dark chocolate sauce. I couldn’t decide where to take my girlfriend for dinner, but when she said she wanted Steak Tartare, I knew it had to be Westport Cafe. The service was amazing, the staff was friendly, and it’s the best Steak Tartare in Kansas City!

Incredible all around! Coconut curry at a French bistro?? Impressive $17 happy hour steak frites? Wow Delicious cocktail in a frozen glass Incredible hospitality. John was my server. Has worked there for 5 years and new every bit of the menu in and out. And an incredible human. Hack: dip the fries in the curry sauce

I went here for the Tuesday steak and frites night as a solo date. This is probably the best steak and price offer you can find in Kansas City. I would highly recommend if you want to come on a Tuesday do not come with a big group, most ideal for 1-2 people in your party. I also highly recommend making a reservation early for a Tuesday night because they are very busy. The bar is first come first serve so that is an option as well if you are looking for a quick last minute good eats! If if you want the au jus sauce with your steak you do have to ask for it and it will be an additional cost. They also have an amazing wine selection that goes well with the meal!

Cozy little spot in a neat little neighborhood. The ambiance was amazing, our server engaging, polite and attentive and the food was classy. I had scallops with black truffle risotto, but even better was the Chicken Liver Mousse!! This place is the total package for a classy romantic (or business romantic LOL) evening. Can't wait to return.

A hidden gem! Classy and vintage feel inside with a delicious and modern twist in French food and all cocktails. I asked for a non-alcoholic spritz (pregnant) and the waiter and bartender made the best N/A cocktail and wrote down the recipe for me to recreate at home. Incredible! All the food was delicious and unique. I’d love to come back for brunch.

What a gem! I popped in for dessert! Ordered the fancy puff pastry with the ice cream and chocolate sauce! Ridiculously cute and super yummy! Everything about it was perfect! My server Sarah was just as sweet as my dessert. She was kind attentive and informative. Multiple check backs but not overbearing at all. She made sure I was aware of the last call as I slid in before closing. Thank you Sarah for your commitment to the guest experience. Bartenders were handling bar nicely all guest look pleased. I will return!

Five Stars & More! If you follow my food addiction you know that getting five stars is not easy to do. Perfection for anyone is hard but the chefs, staff, managers and waiter pull it off in spades. Within first steps we were greeted by Meaghan the resturants manager who took the time to speak with us even on the resturants busiest night (Tuesday is steak night). David our waiter explained many of the drinks, menu items and even some "hacks" that he felt we might enjoy revolving around happy hour. Literally everything was more than perfection. Our steaks were beautiful cooked, our endless fries hit the spot helping to soak up the sauce from the steak. The drinks were masterpieces and then there was dessert! Don't underestimate this Fench resturant, book weeks in advance for steak night and thank me later! Update 4/28/26, Westport Cafe continues it's excellence not only with their food, but with their staff. New menu and drinks as of last week and they are devine! Our waiter John was insanely knowledgeable and we had a blast with friends. Updated food images 😋

Everything was delicious! We were so pleased with everything we were able to try. Our server, John, was very knowledgeable and attentive. He had great suggestions not only on entire dishes, but also on many of the finer details on how best to approach different dishes that really increased our enjoyment of them. He and the Chef were also able to accommodate our dietary restrictions, which was very gracious and helpful. Absolutely a wonderful dining experience. Westport continues to be my favorite dinner spot in KC.
